LOCATION
Makrigialos is still a small village on the South East Coast of Crete but it has all the infrastructure to make tourists life easier. There are banks (and a cash dispenser), you can rent a car or a bike, there are several good restaurants, bars, mini markets and tourist shops, a doctor and a pharmacy, internet cafes and everything is within walking distance. The sandy beach with warm shallow water is perfectly suited for small children and for non swimmers alike. It's definitely a pleasant family location as well.
The typically Greek beachside studios and apartments are located in the centre of the village adjacent to the uncrowded beach. Hiring a car is not necessary to enjoy the Greek way of life as everything (supermarkets, restaurants, shops, banks etc.) are nearby.
